Racing Again

Back to racing style. This is my latest project in August. It is Honda S2000 by Tamiya. It's modified using CLK-GTR DTM rims. Because the rims is too big, so I need to made 2mm wide body using epoxy putty. Beside that, I shaved the door, made custom muflers and custom rear spoiler. This is the result.

Luxury Time!!!

After made some racing type modification, I try to make some luxury modification. I used Toyota Bb from Tamiya. I try to use other paint than Tamiya. I found paint with brand NOW at Ace Hardware. I use it for my Bb. This paint is good enough. It's flat and sticky. I recommend to use clear coat directly after this paint dry and don't touch it or it will stick with your finger even it already dry for 1 day. I made some modification for this kit, they are:
  • Panoramic roof made using Clear plastic from Nokia 3650 Casing

  • Rims are Aoshima Modelart

  • Custom mufflers

  • LED Lamp for Audio trunk and neons.

  • Shaved doors even not perfect enough

Rework, Rework, Rework!!!!

I already planned this a few years before, just need more motivation to start. I have one Nissan Skyline GTR R33. This kit was bought and built in 2003. At that time, I use this kit to train me how to glue, so it didn't have any paint. Last year, I decided to rework this kit and modified it. I really like the new one. First, I detached all the parts. Some of them changed with custom made such as muffler, engine, audio layout. I lost the left head lamp cover so I made it a hole for turbocharger. The hood was cut and I use Dodge Viper SRT10 engine from Buraggo because the engine for Nissan only available for Sylvia which is only 1,500 cc. So, this is the only Nissan Skyline with v10 engine. I painted the kit with Italian Red and made some custom rear spoiler from Subaru Impreza WRC. The rims are used from Peugeot 206 WRC and I painted Gold. So this is the result.

Almost Perfect

After finishing the Enzo, I went back to the store and buy a rare 1/24 Opel Astra Team Holzer by Tamiya and few days later, I bought Zexel Nissan Skyline JGTC. I was planned to build them out of the box.

I bought this kit because I never seen it before so I think it's rare. Beside that, the doors can open. While building this kit, I made some mistakes that makes one door can open and close perfectly, while the other can't. I decided to not paint the body because the basic color of the plastic is good enough and I didn't have time to bought it.

This kit is almost perfect. I made it really out of the box without changing the paint and others. But it has a little bad area. You can found it on the front below bumper. I painted it white and it didn't look good. Beside that, I think this kit is almost perfect.

Next Kit!!!

Finally, I learn to use Acrylic Paint. This is my first kit using acrylic paint but, still not yet use airbrush. It's Mazda RX7 by Fujimi and Ford Focus WRC by Tamiya. I'm combined it with my lamp skill.

1/24 Mazda RX7 by Fujimi (Built 2004)
This Mazda was paint using Tamiya acrylic paint. The main color is metallic blue. All interior was painted dark grey and white. Nothing special with this kit, so I will think about to destroy and remake it. The picture is blur because I'm used Hand Phone camera. i'm gonna scrap this kit n use it for my other projectz.

1/24 Ford Focus WRC by Tamiya (Built 2004)
My Ford is better. I made it using WRC type so I don't need to add modification for this kit. I only remove the rollbars, and replace it with custom audio trunk. The battery for lamps is disguise as NOS bottle. I'm using purple LED and ex-card plastic for the layout. I didn't use epoxy putty at that time. I paint it with racing red and made some custom stickers for the body.

How To Use LED As Neon For 1/24 Model Kits Cars

This is the picture of LED lamp which is usually used by me.

This LED has length of 2 mm and width of 1 mm. It’s very small. You can find it at Accessories Hand Phone Stores. It's only cost you about IDR 1000/pc. It's available in blue, purple, green, white, and super white.

Before start creating this lamp, we must prepare a few things. They are multi tester 360TR, hand drill, soldering iron (25 Watt), soldering timah, wires, glue gun, small straw, watch battery, and plastic sheet. Just see the picture below. Use resistance test on multitester.

The first thing to do is find the positive and negative sign for the lamp by using multi tester. Put the red pin on the lamp’s cooper and black pin on the other side. If the lamp shines, so sign it and solder it with red wire for red pin and black wire for black pin. If it's not shine, then cross it. See above picture for more information.

Count and made the lamp as many as you want. Then, draft the position of your lamp in your car's chassis. I usually use 8 LED for neon and 2 LED for head lamp. For interior, you can make it as you wish according to your type of modification and trunk layout. This is the example of draft on my car chassis.

After you know the position, drill the area using had drill and 2.5 mm drill. Drill 2 small hole for both wire and glue all the lamp to the chassis using the melted glue. All the lamp are connected parallel each other to the battery.

After make the connection, try to check with the battery whether the black wire to (+) or (-) and red wire too. After that, make the battery house using plastic sheet and connect it to the on/off button.

After finish, cover all with paint or sticker on the inside and cover with small straw to make it like tube. The more you do it, the more perfect you make it. Experience is important. Good Luck Trying
